Our approach

In our center, in a pleasant and welcoming setting, we offer you counseling and care following a holistic concept. Depending on your needs, specialists of various disciplines are at your disposition.

If necessary, you can receive different treatments under the same roof. This enables us to collaborate and develop a treatment plan that is coherent and optimally matches your personal situation.

In preventing unnecessary or repetitive analyses and consultations, it is also often very time and cost efficient.

Different perspectives – same basic concept

We experience all our emotions, actions and dreams, our whole life, through our body. These experiences therefore follow certain physiological laws. Science has taught us that these chemical and physical laws of our body are at the basis of our emotions, perceptions and thoughts. Body, brain and psyche can’t exist independently from each other.

This unity is the core of the medical concept of ZiSMed. Thus, for example, we consider the influence of the psychosocial environment on processes within the body in the treatment of illness. Inversely, the state of our body, its biochemical processes, and our patterns of movement and posture are linked to our emotions – through corresponding neurological inputs in the brain. Thus, both in psychological and in physical complaints, it can be helpful to treat a person’s muscular tensions, their posture, their patterns of breathing and movement.

The same laws apply for the individual experience of sexuality. It is greatly influenced by the way a person has learned to perceive sexual arousal and by which patterns of movement he or she employs the body during arousal.

What is interdisciplinary treatment?

Conventional medicine is well suited for the treatment of many complaints. That is why, in ZiSMed, we work in accordance with the latest achievements of scientific medicine. In the treatment of certain complaints, of particularly tenacious diseases, and in illness prevention, we may prefer to employ alternate techniques. These emphasize the unity of body, brain and psyche as a whole and go beyond the mere treatment of the symptom and its direct cause. In round-table case discussions, together, we develop the optimal interdisciplinary treatment solution for our patients with particularly complex ailments.

What does gynecology have to do with sexuality?

Gynecology is the science of the female genitals. Most people nowadays use their genitals far more for sexuality than for reproduction or for being ill. The prevention of sexual problems, therefore, is just as much part of the ZiSMed concept of gynecology as contraception and prevention of cancer etc. This means your gynecologist may inquire about your sexual wellbeing. Or that she may point out connections between somatic findings and sexual functioning, even if you didn’t ask about it. As research has shown, most patients wish for their doctors to open up the subject of sexuality first. Needless to say, it is entirely up to you to decide if you want to enter into the discussion or rather not.

The importance of learning

Next to our genetic predisposition, learning processes from early childhood on take an important part in who we have become and how we master our lives. Their role is equally important in our health and sexual wellbeing.

We never lose the ability to learn. Modern neuroscience has shown that the human brain changes, evolves, and forms new synapses even in the aging adult. All persons can change habitual reactions, patterns of posture, tensions and discomfort through physical learning. Likewise, everybody has access to learning steps towards an enrichment of their sexual experience.

Different learning processes are induced in myoreflex therapy, pelvic floor training, sexocorporal therapy and psychotherapy. Learning plays a central role in the medical concept of the ZiSMed as an important path to health and wellbeing.
