Sexual Counseling and Sex Therapy for Individuals and Couples

Do you have questions about your sexuality or would you like a personal assessment? In an initial consultation – individually or as a couple – we clarify your concerns and discuss possible next steps.

Sexuality can be learned. Our body-oriented sex therapy is based on the Sexocorporel approach and supports individual processes of change and learning. The focus is on the body, perception, and experience.

The duration of therapy is individual. Individual sessions allow for in-depth work on personal concerns, while couple sessions support the shared shaping of sexuality and practical exercises.

A resource-oriented approach

Psychotherapy, Couples Therapy, and Psychological Counseling

Our resource-oriented approach for individuals, couples, and families aims to help you understand your challenges and gain self-confidence, autonomy, and fulfilling relationships.

We look at your current life situation holistically, using methods like systemic therapy, behavioral therapy, and bodywork.

Sometimes, just a few conversations with a specialist are enough to find a way out of an acute, difficult situation. Sometimes a single conversation is enough to view your situation from a different perspective.

At other times, a crisis is the expression of a deeper underlying issue that is now emerging and needs to be addressed. In an initial assessment session, we explore your concerns and support you in planning your next steps.

In couples therapy and relationship counseling, we address relationship problems and conflicts of all kinds. Sometimes, only one clarifying conversation is needed; at other times, longer-term support may be helpful.

If sexuality within the relationship is an issue, couples therapy can, if needed, be combined with sex therapy, which may include joint sessions as well as individual sessions depending on the situation.

The range of issues we address at ZiSMed spans from stressful events in relationships and domestic violence to processing early childhood trauma and complex post-traumatic stress.

In addition to physical and sexual violence, psychological and generally more “hidden” aspects of violence are also a key focus. We offer individual sessions, couples sessions, and sessions with other significant others and family members.

All anxiety disorders (e.g., panic attacks, specific phobias, social anxiety), compulsions and obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, burnout, and depressive moods are addressed in various ways depending on the individual’s needs: through cognitive-behavioral therapy, body-oriented therapy, and relationship-focused therapy.

These include issues such as problematic rumination about food, dieting, anorexia, bulimia (binge eating and purging), and binge eating. We also focus on atypical forms of eating disorders, as well as orthorexia (compulsive healthy eating).

Our therapeutic approach examines the causes and maintaining factors. We work with you specifically on how you can influence these so that the eating disorder no longer has to exist—and is no longer necessary. Depending on your needs, nutritionists and physicians are consulted.

You can come to us for help with any type of addiction or compulsive behavior—unless you have an acute drug or alcohol problem that prevents you from attending regular therapy sessions.

In cases of compulsive sexual behavior, our approach will also include sex therapy.

Whether it’s aggression, grief, fear, shame, or guilt—no one experiences emotions for no reason. Dealing with them is often difficult and can sometimes lead to problems.

Whether those emotions are suppressed and then overwhelm you uncontrollably in difficult situations, or whether they manifest in behaviors that you or those around you find problematic.

We offer individual and couples therapy for adults with ADHD.

ZiSMed does not conduct ADHD evaluations.

We work with you to address issues related to self-esteem and self-discovery, as well as problems with body image and body awareness, and with masculinity and femininity.

We also focus on problematic personality styles that cause difficulties.

We can help you with all kinds of physical problems, such as pain or sleep disorders. You can also contact us if you are struggling with a long-term illness.
