Sexual Counseling and Sex Therapy for Individuals and Couples

Do you have questions about your sexuality or would you like a personal assessment? In an initial consultation – individually or as a couple – we clarify your concerns and discuss possible next steps.

Sexuality can be learned. Our body-oriented sex therapy is based on the Sexocorporel approach and supports individual processes of change and learning. The focus is on the body, perception, and experience.

The duration of therapy is individual. Individual sessions allow for in-depth work on personal concerns, while couple sessions support the shared shaping of sexuality and practical exercises.

COURSE OFFERINGS FOR WOMEN

Group
«With Pleasure to Orgasm»

The group "With Pleasure to Orgasm" for women is pleasurable, playful, and goal-oriented: fulfilling, satisfying sexuality requires learning steps accessible to every woman. Building on the skills you already bring, you will learn to enrich your erotic experience and increase your capacity for pleasure.

Unlike individual therapy, the group setting allows for exchange and exploration among participants, where each person benefits from the others' experiences and input.

Before registration, an evaluation interview clarifies with the group facilitator whether the group is suitable for you. Only afterward do you decide whether to join.

Please note: The group is conducted in German. Questions about language or an English seminar? Contact Annette Bischof-Campbell.

  • Do you feel that your sexual experiences do not reflect what might actually be possible for you?

  • Do you generally experience sex as not very pleasurable or unsatisfying?

  • Would you like to experience solo sex as more pleasurable and fulfilling?

  • Would you like to experience partnered sexuality as more pleasurable and fulfilling?

  • Would you like vaginal intercourse to be more pleasurable and satisfying?

  • Would you like to experience orgasm in a more pleasurable way?

  • Would you like to let go of the pressure of “having to orgasm”?

  • Would you like to feel more relaxed and open around sexuality?

If you answered “yes” to one or more of these questions, our group program may be suitable for you. It is open regardless of whether you are single or in a relationship, heterosexual, bisexual, or homosexual, and regardless of age.

Knowledge transfer:

  • You will learn the basics of female sexuality and female sexual anatomy.
  • You will learn how sexual learning works.
  • You will learn what is needed for pleasurable sexual arousal and a satisfying orgasm.
  • You will learn how your body and experience are connected and how bodily processes can influence experience.
  • You will receive suggestions on how to bring your sexual needs into a partnership.
  • You will receive suggestions for toys and care products.

Experience and practice:

You will gain bodily experiences and receive impulses for exploration and exercises. Regular practice and exploration support you in:

  • making the increase of sexual arousal in solo and partnered sexuality more pleasurable
  • experiencing sexual arousal more pleasurably up to orgasm
  • experiencing orgasms and the after-effects more pleasurably
  • better sensing and experiencing your body
  • developing a good relationship with your sexual self
  • experiencing vaginal intercourse as more pleasurable and stimulating
  • better perceiving what you do and do not want during sex
  • experiencing solo and partnered sexuality in a more emotionally relaxed, open, and easeful way
  • becoming more confident in sexuality

Group exchange:

You reflect critically on attitudes and value systems around (female) sexuality and partnered sexuality that may interfere with sexual pleasure.
You share how you experienced the exercises and practice at home.
You give and receive tips, suggestions, and support for your personal process.

The group consists of a maximum of 8 participants. We meet for 8 evening sessions of two hours each. You will acquire theoretical knowledge, try out practical exercises, and exchange experiences with the group. There is no obligation to participate in every exercise, and you decide how much you wish to share with others.

We recommend comfortable clothing and ask you to bring a mat for lying exercises. We also recommend bringing a notebook and pen.

In addition, you should plan at least three practice sessions per week to integrate and deepen the new skills. The practice process at home is a central part of this group. Only in this way can real learning take place.

The group is conducted in German and takes place at the practice of Annette Bischof-Campbell at ZiSMed, meeting every Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

The next dates will be announced in autumn 2026.

If you have questions regarding language requirements or are interested in attending a seminar in English, please contact Annette Bischof-Campbell.

A RESOURCE-ORIENTED APPROACH

Psychotherapy, Couples Therapy, and Psychological Counseling

Our resource-oriented approach for individuals, couples, and families aims to help you understand your challenges and gain self-confidence, autonomy, and fulfilling relationships.

We look at your current life situation holistically, using methods like systemic therapy, behavioral therapy, and bodywork.

Sometimes, just a few conversations with a specialist are enough to find a way out of an acute, difficult situation. Sometimes a single conversation is enough to view your situation from a different perspective.

At other times, a crisis is the expression of a deeper underlying issue that is now emerging and needs to be addressed. In an initial assessment session, we explore your concerns and support you in planning your next steps.

In couples therapy and relationship counseling, we address relationship problems and conflicts of all kinds. Sometimes, only one clarifying conversation is needed; at other times, longer-term support may be helpful.

If sexuality within the relationship is an issue, couples therapy can, if needed, be combined with sex therapy, which may include joint sessions as well as individual sessions depending on the situation.

The range of issues we address at ZiSMed spans from stressful events in relationships and domestic violence to processing early childhood trauma and complex post-traumatic stress.

In addition to physical and sexual violence, psychological and generally more “hidden” aspects of violence are also a key focus. We offer individual sessions, couples sessions, and sessions with other significant others and family members.

All anxiety disorders (e.g., panic attacks, specific phobias, social anxiety), compulsions and obsessive-compulsive disorder, depression, burnout, and depressive moods are addressed in various ways depending on the individual’s needs: through cognitive-behavioral therapy, body-oriented therapy, and relationship-focused therapy.

These include issues such as problematic rumination about food, dieting, anorexia, bulimia (binge eating and purging), and binge eating. We also focus on atypical forms of eating disorders, as well as orthorexia (compulsive healthy eating).

Our therapeutic approach examines the causes and maintaining factors. We work with you specifically on how you can influence these so that the eating disorder no longer has to exist—and is no longer necessary. Depending on your needs, nutritionists and physicians are consulted.

You can come to us for help with any type of addiction or compulsive behavior—unless you have an acute drug or alcohol problem that prevents you from attending regular therapy sessions.

In cases of compulsive sexual behavior, our approach will also include sex therapy.

Whether it’s aggression, grief, fear, shame, or guilt—no one experiences emotions for no reason. Dealing with them is often difficult and can sometimes lead to problems.

Whether those emotions are suppressed and then overwhelm you uncontrollably in difficult situations, or whether they manifest in behaviors that you or those around you find problematic.

We offer individual and couples therapy for adults with ADHD.

ZiSMed does not conduct ADHD evaluations.

We work with you to address issues related to self-esteem and self-discovery, as well as problems with body image and body awareness, and with masculinity and femininity.

We also focus on problematic personality styles that cause difficulties.

We can help you with all kinds of physical problems, such as pain or sleep disorders. You can also contact us if you are struggling with a long-term illness.

EXAMINATION AND TREATMENT USING THE HANDS

Manual Medicine

Manual medicine treats disorders of the musculoskeletal system such as back, muscle, or joint pain. After a thorough examination by specially trained physicians, an individual treatment plan is created.

Using manual techniques, functional disorders are addressed, pain is reduced, and mobility is improved. In addition, you will receive simple exercises to do at home to support the treatment outcome.

FAQ

Gynaecological Examination

The examination takes place on the gynaecological chair and begins with an assessment of the external genitalia. Next, a speculum is used to examine the vagina and cervix, with samples taken if needed (e.g., a Pap test).

This is followed by a manual examination of the uterus and ovaries, as well as a vaginal ultrasound if required. The preventive check-up also includes an examination of the breasts and armpits.

The physical examination takes about 10–15 minutes, while the pre- and post-consultation discussions take about 30 minutes. It is advisable to allow around one hour for the consultation, including prior laboratory tests.

Bleeding is not a reason to avoid the examination. Only for the preventive check-up is it preferable if your bleeding is light or has stopped altogether.

Gynaecology at ZiSMed combines the health of the female reproductive organs with a holistic understanding of sexuality and well-being. In addition to contraception and cancer screening, our services therefore also include the prevention and treatment of sexual concerns.

Depending on your situation, your gynaecologist may also address possible connections between physical findings and sexual well-being. Of course, you decide at any time which topics you would like to discuss.

As a rule, no physical examination takes place at the first appointment, unless you have specific concerns. This visit often focuses on topics such as contraception or menstruation. No examination is required for prescribing the pill either.

This gives you the opportunity to get to know your gynaecologist and ask questions. If you wish, the examination procedure can be explained, and the examination chair and instruments can be shown to you.

A first preventive check-up usually takes place about one year after first having sexual intercourse.

The physical examination should not be painful. In most cases, it can be carried out with such care that, at most, mild discomfort—but not significant pain—occurs. This may not always be possible if strong pain is already present before the examination. In any case, the examination can be stopped immediately at your request.

You can prepare by getting used to touch in the intimate area, for example through gentle touching or massaging of the vaginal opening. This can help you become more aware of your own body and feel more confident.

Conscious relaxation of the pelvic floor is also important. By deliberately tensing and releasing the muscles (not during urination), you can learn to relax them more effectively.

During the examination, your gynaecologist takes the time to help you relax, supporting you, for example, through calm breathing.

If you have symptoms, a gynaecological examination may be necessary even if the hymen is still intact. In such cases, specially fine instruments are used to avoid injuring the hymen. Young girls who have not yet had their period and have a concern or need an examination are cared for by specialised paediatric gynaecologists.
